Painting over Gloss Paint

I mistakenly painted my wall with a gloss paint and now want to cover it with a matte.
Can I just paint over it?

Hi Pamela -

You should be fine but I would do a little light sanding over all the walls with some 120
grit(medium roughness) sandpaper just to sure.

I assume you used a semi-gloss latex wall paint on your walls. If it is a harder (enamel,
oil) paint, or high-gloss paint I would just do a little extra sanding.
